Whenever my 5 year-old asks for sprinkles… this is what I make 🌈🍦🥥 Ditch the over-processed, sugary sprinkles for something more natural or even homemade! This is my go-to recipe for homemade sprinkles ⬇️ SAVE for later ✔️ All the ingredients linked in my Amazon storefront (link in bio) 🌈🍦🥥 Coconut Rainbow Sprinkles ½ cup unsweetened shredded coconut ½ -1 tsp natural food powder: 🩷 Pink/red: Beetroot or dragonfruit powder; 💛Yellow/orange: Turmeric powder; 💚 Green: Green Spirulina (use a Hawaiian brand as they aren’t fishy tasting); 💙Purple/blue: Blueberry powder or Blue Spirulina; 🤎 Brown: Cocoa powder 1 tsp water (just enough to lightly dampen, not soaking wet) Optional: a drop of vanilla extract and/or liquid stevia for flavour 📝 Preheat the oven to lowest setting (<175°F). If your oven doesn't go that low, prop the door open slightly with a wooden spoon and use “fan off” setting. In a small bowl, combine coconut, natural food powder; mix throughly until evenly coated. Let sit for a minute to absorb. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or silicone mat. Spread thin, even layer of coloured coconut. Break up any clumps with a fork. Repeat for other colours on separate sections or trays. Place in the oven for 30-60 minutes until fully dried. Stir every 20–30 minutes with a fork to ensure even drying and break up clumps. Check frequently near end. They’re done when fully dry and crisp. Do not let them brown or burn. Remove from the oven; let cool completely on tray. Store in airtight jar or container at room temperature 4-6 weeks. Sprinkle on ice cream, yogurt, chocolate pudding, smoothie bowls, etc.
