I was a dealer tech for 7 years for Subaru and out of the thousand or so cars I saw we had 3 front diffs go bad wouldn’t say they sound like a howl 😂

I would say burning oil is a very common problem with newer Subarus. Just about every wrx near me smells like a plastic factory.
