@leadershipmel: I want to give you the one most useful skill you can practice as a leader. OK, here’s the most useful skill. It’s the skill of self-trust - and here’s why. The more senior you get, the more pressure you put on yourself to “get things right”. You worry about failing or making mistakes because of the financial impact. Or people impacts, Or personal brand impacts. You come up with lots of really good rationales to put extra pressure on yourself. But when you TRUST YOURSELF to figure things out, you can do the work without the worry and the pressure. You didn’t get this leadership role because you never failed. You got this leadership role because you demonstrated your ability to figure things out and get them back on track. And you can trust that. You’re a master of figuring things out. I’m going to offer that when you build that muscle of trusting yourself, you automatically start to feel safer. Which lets you be calmer. More focused. Patient. Less competitive. You take advantage of more opportunities. You activate more innovative solutions. Bottom line: The more you trust yourself, the better leader you allow yourself to be. That’s my advice for today.
