15 Cities in 15 Days with 4 Kids Day 9: Eibsee + Mount Wank (unfortunate name) This was one of my favorite travel days of all time. Everything exceeded my expectations, the kids were able to run, climb, play, and use outside voices, and the views were INSANE. We drove from Füssen to Eibsee. There’s plenty of parking at Eibsee, and there’s an easy hiking trail to follow to get to the spot pictured in my video. You can hike around the entire thing if you’re up for it! We hung out wading in the water for quite a while, and I could have stayed there all day. I want to go back and stay in that area, rent paddle boards or paddle boats and just spend the day on the lake. Afterward we continued our hike, but one of my kids got really thirsty and we ran out of water, so I volunteered to take the youngest 2 back with the secret plan of getting them a water and me a shandy (Radler in German) at the Biergarten. After everyone caught up to us, we moved on to our next stop: Mount Wank. Everyone does Zugspitze, the highest peak in Germany. (It shares a parking lot with Eibsee so it would be easy to do right afterward). But it’s EXPENSIVE. Taking the cable car up Mount Wank instead of Zugspitze saved us about €100. And I’m glad we did! The views were still incredible, and we had an alpine playground all to ourselves at the top. We relaxed and played up there for about an hour. The only thing that would have made it better is if we had gotten up there 30 minutes earlier before they closed the coffee shop at the top so I could add a spot to my “coffee in beautiful places” collection. Perfect travel day. 10/10. P.S. Any women want to join me on a group trip to this region? I’m thinking about putting one together because I truly fell in love with it!
