while I absolutely agree that stuff like this should come back, most people forget that up to a certain point in history it was literally shunnable for a woman to 1. wear makeup (pre-1920s mostly) or 2. put makeup on/touch it up in public. makeup was incredibly compact not just for convenience but for the purpose of hiding it and appearing like you're just carrying a tiny purse!
