Small correction, the movie is shot in a 21:9 (cinemascope) aspect ratio until the arena scene, where it becomes a 16:9 (full widescreen) ratio.

Not quite- The film starts in a 2.35:1 ratio(standard letterbox ratio) then switches to 16:9 when the letterbox goes away(letterbox is the black bars)
