@missclairebenjamin: 🚨 Handing the GASLIGHTER part 3👇 🧠 Gaslighting has two parts. Part 1 is when someone denies your reality or perception of things or things you know happened/ didn’t happen. Part 2 is when they turn things around onto you and make you feel like there’s something wrong with you. 💡 So in the example shown in this video, the gaslighter tries to make the person believe they overlooked the email (when they didn’t) and continues saying this even when the person checked and knows the email wasn’t sent to them. Then they in-act part 2 of gaslighting and accuse them of being sensitive. This is intended to destabilise the person and make them doubt themselves. This is a form of manipulation used to gain power and control 😳 ▶️ The skill is to spot when you’re being gaslighted and learn to control the urge to fight back. Do the OPPOSITE of what you automatically want to do. Respond calmly, don’t react and don’t take the bait. When they say “you’re very sensitive aren’t you” respond with “I’m not here to discuss my sensitivity levels I’m here to discuss [INSERT]” 🚫 Don’t get drawn into a conversation about your levels of sensitivity. 💡I would recommend distancing yourself as much as you can from people like this, avoid 1:1 interactions and document everything. They will get bored when they see they can’t manipulate you. ❤️ As a side note being sensitive is a great quality. It means you are in tune with yourself and what is going on around you 📌 Please remember the advice offered in this video is generalised.
