الشارع والشمس ج٢ لماذا تميل شوارع الجبيل الصناعية ولا تتعامد مع محور الشمال والجنوب؟ في الصفحة 74 من المجلد السابع للمخطط العام لعام 1978، تظهر واحدة من أهم الأفكار التي شكّلت المدينة: دراسة حركة الشمس طوال العام، وربطها باتجاه المباني والطرق والفراغات المفتوحة والرياح السائدة. اقترح المخطط توجيه المحاور بزاوية تقارب 78°، لتقليل تعرض الواجهتين الشرقية والغربية للشمس المنخفضة التي تدخل مباشرة إلى عمق المباني صباحًا ومساءً، وزيادة الاعتماد على الواجهة الجنوبية التي تكون شمسها أعلى وأسهل في التحكم والتظليل. هذه ليست مصادفة في شكل شبكة الشوارع؛ بل نتيجة منهج متكامل للتكيف البيئي. هكذا أسهمت الشمس في تشكيل الجبيل الصناعية كما نعرفها اليوم. في المقطع القادم: لماذا تُعد الواجهة الجنوبية أفضل، مع أنها تستقبل الشمس فترة أطول؟ Why are the streets of Jubail Industrial City tilted instead of being aligned directly with the north–south axis? Page 74 of Volume VII of the 1978 Master Plan presents one of the key environmental ideas that shaped the city: studying the sun’s movement throughout the year and relating it to buildings, streets, open spaces, and prevailing winds. The plan recommended an orientation of approximately 78° to reduce exposure of the eastern and western façades to low-angle sunlight, which can penetrate deeply into buildings during the morning and afternoon. This orientation increases the southern façade, where higher-angle sunlight is easier to control through architectural shading. The street pattern was not accidental. It was part of an integrated environmental adaptation approach that helped shape Jubail Industrial City as we know it today.
