@thepinckards: Eloping used to mean getting married in secret without parental consent, usually very quickly. But definitions change & words evolve. Today, the word “elopement” is typically used as an alternative for “wedding,” when you’re really not having what most people think of as a wedding. Not everyone agrees on the strict definition, but most vendors (e.g. photographers, venues, officiants) would consider any weddings with around 15 guests or fewer to be an elopement. To us, though? The word you choose to use doesnt matter. The only thing that’s important is that you & your partner have a day that is ALL ABOUT YOU. It could be an adventurous mountaintop elopement, international destination elopement, micro wedding with your immediate families, some combination of those, or something entirely different… As long as you’re choosing to prioritize your love & joy over the traditions/expectations that tend to be forced on you if you have a large wedding. But there is no right or wrong way to get married. You can have 1,000 guests or 0 guests. Our goal is to support & encourage couples to be able to choose whatever is best for them, no matter who it might offend.
