You can see how much more freedom the writers and actors had before the code came in. The best part? This film was co-written by the wonderful Frances Marion. Frances Marion was a trailblazing screenwriter and director hailed as one of the 20th century’s foremost scriptwriters. With a portfolio boasting over 325 scripts, she not only won two Academy Awards but also made history as the first writer to do so.
