I would argue tightening a drain plug is just one of those things you should have a feel for. Never stripped one and work on multiple car brands.

It takes time. Torque everything. Everything is in German. It’s a common thing to do with bmw to strip that drain plug believe it or not.

One tip ill give is there a ratchet made by koken that is set to 26nm thats what i use for my drain plugs and filters.
