@hammyandolivia: Hammy has only known life with his sister and he has a history of separation anxiety whenever he’s away from Olivia. Losing Olivia has been hard on him. He’s a sucker for food and playtime so we’ve been trying to occupy all of his waking hours with exercise, playtime and activities that keep his tunnel vision on something fun… but we’re grieving too so it’s hard to always be fur parenting for him… and he feels those moments from us. Hammy has been very affectionate. He knows we’ve been struggling and his big heart shines whenever he seeks us out when he hears our cries or sniffles in another room. He likes to grieve with us when he can and when he wants to be alone he’s sequestering to places in the home that Olivia would spend most of her time: the bay window, the living room couch and even the foot of our bed (Hammy never used to be a bed snuggler). We’re mindful that he can probably still smell her… and it breaks our hearts. Thousands of you have reached out to check in on him. We’re so sorry that we won’t be able to reply to everyone, so we hope you all don’t mind when we update you here. We’re finding so much comfort in seeing how loved she was, and learning the impact she had on so many of you. It’s helped to shift our tears into smiles… we’re learning to find joy in the memory of her life. Thank you for keeping our family in your hearts. Healing alongside you has been a gift and we’re so thankful we don’t have to do this alone. We tell Hammy everyday that you’ve all been asking about him and we’d like to think that he feels the warmth coming from everyone. Thank you for being such a beacon of light for our family ❤️
