Real yams looks like Yuca root if you’ve ever seen it. What we call yams in the states are just sweet potatoes usually.

The difference is a yam is large in size and a sweet potato is smaller they both are African potatoes grown in separate parts one is used to make pies

I hate candied yams I mush mine up after boiling them like mashed potatoes and coat it in the sugar glaze then add marshmallows it’s amazing still just a different texture

TO ME, sweet potatoes is mushed up with the marshmallows , and yams is just cut like how she had it without the marshmallows but cooked the same way.
