Recipe for my Asian “beginning of sickness” remedy 🌿🍋 * small fresh ginger (slices) * 1 scallion (white part) * Juice of 1 lime * Tiny pinch of salt * 1 cup water Boil ginger + scallion for 10–15 mins. Turn off heat, add lime juice + salt. Optional: add honey after it cools slightly. Warm, simple, soothing, and easy on the throat 🌿 Benefits of each ingredient 🌿 🫚 Ginger Traditionally used to warm the body, support circulation, and soothe sore throats. Ginger also contains natural compounds that may help with inflammation and nausea. 🧅 Scallion In many Chinese households, scallion is used at the beginning of sickness to help warm the body and encourage mild sweating when you feel chills or congestion coming on. 🍋 Lime Refreshing and soothing for the throat. The acidity may help cut through mucus and gives a boost of vitamin C. 🧂 Salt A tiny pinch may help soothe irritated throat tissue and support hydration. 🍯 Honey (optional) Helps coat and calm the throat naturally. In many Asian households, remedies like this are used early to help warm the body, support circulation, soothe the throat, and encourage rest before symptoms get worse. Not a cure, just one of those comforting traditions I grew up around and still love doing now 🤍
