Nuba wresting matches have found a place in the city, as they have in the Haj Youssef stadium in Khartoum. The festival atmosphere reflects the traditional importance of women in the proceedings. Though victors were rewarded with goats in the village tournaments, the praise of women was deemed the highest honour.
