One important detail is you have to **invest it** after the money is in the IRA otherwise it just sits there earning nothing.

there's also up to 3 different types of $ to put into ur 401k. pretax, after-tax, and Roth. Roth can be confusing but the other 2 are straight forward in definition

Here in Aus it is mandatory that your employer pays your superannuation each pay. You can voluntarily pay some yourself too if you want to.
