@debtpayoffwithmeareke: 🛑 HEAR ME OUT 🛑 Access to electrical outlets is absolutely necessary when DIYing a fireplace but depending on the model of the insert you go with, creating a cutout access panel may not be needed! To access the outlets behind my particular fireplace insert, it’s as easy and removing the glass front and removing two screws on the main piece of the insert. That’s it! From there, I have full access to the electrical outlets. Is a separate panel necessary for me? I don’t think so! Another reason why I bypassed adding a cutout panel is because of where my outlet is located. It is on the right side of the fireplace so I would need to create a panel on the right side as well. One major drawback to this is the right side is in clear view at all times (the bathroom door is only a few feet away). Please make whatever decision is best for you but in my case, I think no access panel was the right call.
