@alexsfoodieadventures: Lagoon Dining, Carlton 4.5/5 [INVITE] A moody hideaway just off Lygon Street, boasting exquisite Chinese-inspired cuisine. Our favourites from the night were the raw hiramasa kingfish, bursting with lemon ponzu, salmon roe, and shiso—a sashimi sensation. The steamed humpty doo barramundi, paired with sambal belacan & fish floss, was an authentic Chinese delight that melted in our mouths. The standout dish was definitely the rich, moist char siu, reminiscent of Hong Kong's finest. Served with a traditional spring onion relish, it was a memorable experience. The rice and wok-tossed snow pea tendrils perfectly complemented the meal. We ended on a high note with the choc milo parfait, blending puffed rice, dulce de leche, and raspberry for a flavoursome treat. In terms of the other dishes, the chicken, seasoned with white pepper togorashi on tonkatsu sauce, packed a pleasant heat but might benefit from a balancing flavour. The Lapsang Souchong Tea Pudding, subtly smoky with pineapple pandan caramel, was rich but might be a bit to have as one person. Don’t miss their amazing amaretto sour!
