If the forks are different lengths or angles it can change the rest of the bikes height. The rear wheel is the a pivot point.

1/4in in ground clearance can happen in frame production, and same with seat padding. I work on them day in day out, literally the same mechanically

Differences are minimal. my guess be the suspension set ups are slightly different. If the road glide sits higher then in theory should corner better
