i think ur hair texture and frizz level affects how big ur braids are too. i’ve noticed when my hair is frizzy, my braids look bigger.

You should try to blow dry it straighter since you have a wave to your hair pattern. Similar to silk presses and blow drying very coily hair to make it slick down/thinner feeling

Twist your sections, makes them much more tight and compact, I use to do it when I'd swim
