@amputeekatyt: For a really long time I refused to go out in the wheelchair. Instead I just laid on the couch and waited to get better. I wanted to do things “normally” and if I went out and didn’t destroy my foot I thought I was cheating myself and not working hard enough. About 2 years in I decided I needed to forget about my old life and realize that my new life will always include walking aids. A wheelchair, cane, prosthetic, I-walk etc. When I started going out and living my life again I realized how much fun I can still have, I can make the best of my situation and not care what anyone thinks.
