Making a squish brain 🧠 (the reboot) To make our squishy brain we are going to be utilizing liquid latex and flex foam(flex foam it 3 by smooth on) along with a store bought jello mold with an option to use 2 jello molds so your brain can have a nice bottom . Before we can get started we need to mix up some crimson 🩸 using 15 drops of red food coloring two drops of blue and one drop of brown into one ounce of a liquid latex. it's a good idea to do a color Swatch and let it dry so you can see that it will turn out the color you are hoping for before you ruin your brain. now that we have some 🩸 we're going to mix a dollop of the 🩸 into more clear liquid latex so it's just a slight 🩸 tint, do not go over board or the brain will end up too dark once you have built up enough layers. and then we're going to use that to paint 4-8 layers in the brain mold making sure the first two are pretty thin And using a hair dryer to speed up the dry time. once it seems like we've built up a good skin let's go in with some 1:1 🩸 to clear latex and then use it to paint the ridges of the brain that will end up being the folds later. put a couple of those layers on and let them dry. and then mix in a dollop of white paint into your 1:1 mixture . The white paint will add opacity. This is going to end up the main color of your brain so do another paint swatch and see what color this will dry to make sure you are happy with it. Once you have built up enough layers that your skin is no longer transparent, It finally foam time! If you are planning on bottom capping the brain (like I show in the footage) take a second brain mold and cut it down so that it can fit inside the first one Then while you are painting the layers of latex on the first mold, paint them in this shallower second mold at the same time (so they end up looking the same) . Side note , I did more layers than I needed to in the footage. You could get away with 5 clear, 2 ridges and 3 opaque (ish) layers. Back to foam. Use 3 oz of flex foam it 3 , if you have “so strong” dye I would tint it “flesh” color, but that step is optional. (if you don’t tint the foam make sure your opaque(ish) layers are thick enough they block out most of the light coming through them. When you pour the foam place the cap over top (make sure there are vent holes) while the foam rises and hold it there till its done which should be in around 5 minutes Let the brain sit for at least 2 hours while the foam cures. Once its ready to go carefully demold the brain big half first. This should leave you with a brain ball and a latex flap that you can trim most of away and then using the fact that latex sticks to itself, use the remaining flap to mesh the two halves together. IMPORTANT NOTE: Cut vent holes or your brain will pop like a balloon upon being squished. Now for some gory decoration, bringing the crimson back from before, paint on crimson to personal taste but focus it in the folds to help give it a more pronounced look. This brain will remain tacky and stick to latex unless you powder it (with talc or corn starch). #brain #braintutorial #tutorial #liquidlatex #fakebrain #howtomakeabrain #art #craft #crafting #brainsquish #artist
