SAVE & SHARE I can’t take credit for this bubble hack, I saw this on IG some time ago. Gosh it worked well though for these reasons 👇🏻 🫧 Keeps the kids in the house yard, at the clothesline while I am hanging out the washing. Once my kids are outside they make a beeline for their bikes and are out the gate and down to the shed in a blink of an eye! It makes it very tricky to get the yard jobs done! 🫧 Turn taking. This one was a tricky one especially for my 18 month old…totally age appropriate though! We scaffolded the activity to where he is at by having two bubble wands and they took turns waiting & dipping in the single bottle. They also both took turns with me! 🫧 Language development: this was predominantly for my 18 mo. But we used some more descriptive language for my 3 yo. as well to expand his sentences. Words we used: Stuck, bubble, pull, dip, out/in, more, ready set go, my turn, your turn, up/down, high/low, pop, blow & blew, shake, stomp, squash, float, light, sky, ground, glistening, grass, huge, humongous, enormous, tiny, little/big. 🫧 Strategies used: - Modelling language - Waiting and giving them the time and opportunity to process and use new words. - Choices eg Do you want to pop or stomp? My turn or your turn? - Expanding from single words to two word phrase. - Adding in descriptive words to make sentences longer and more complex. - Fixing up grammar like verb tense and sentence structure on the go through modelling and recasting sentences. Honestly this kept them engaged for a good 20mins! 🤩 Fun and engagement equals a brilliant opportunity to support language & social communication skills. It’s not rocket science; it’s just knowing the tips & strategies and making the most of the opportunities that pop up during your day to day activities to support their development. ✨ TIP: To refill the bottle quickly I add a whole lot of dishwashing detergent like 2/3 of the bubble bottle and the rest water. It’s not quite as good as the bought mixture but it does the job! #bubbleplay #toddlerplay #kidsactivity #outsideplayanyday #outsideplay #toddleractivity #bubblepopping #toddlertalk #toddlerlanguagedevelopment
