Jelly Bean Sweets is a content creator with nearly a million followers on TikTok. The 20-year-old, who started out by sharing her love for dance on the app, is now known for her mukbangs. A mukbang is “a video or livestream in which the host eats a large quantity of food for the entertainment of viewers.” Trisha Paytas, who also rose to fame for creating mukbangs amongst other videos, has recently mentioned Jelly Bean Sweets in her podcast: “Do you know Jelly Bean Sweets off TikTok? She puts a ton of sauce, like gets a burrito and dips it in like a cup of like sauce and takes like huge bites. This girl's like literally eating and she's getting like 5 million views per TikTok. I want to eat with Jelly Bean Sweets.” And the creator was soon to react: “Trisha Paytas talked about me in her podcast. She said she would wanna eat with me, that’s crazy. I would wanna eat with you too Trisha, I can see us getting Taco Bell. I love how I’m kinda known for the Taco Bell mukbangs”. However, Trish has also spoken out about the negatives of gaining success through mukbangs due to the risk of addiction as a result of the views and money gained from this type of content. Jelly Bean Sweets has also shared that she experiences discomfort when filming her mukbangs. “It is kinda painful when you chug a drink, my eyes will water and stuff.” However, she continues to challenge herself, as one of her latest videos shows her eating a full meal in less than 3 minutes. Dr Andrew Harris, a senior lecturer of psychology, outlines that this type of content can be dangerous: 'Mukbang videos centre around consumption and indulgence, potentially reinforcing a cycle of overeating or unhealthy food relationships.' Shelby Becker, a dietitian, also highlights that ‘these videos encourage over-consumption in an almost romanticised manner by not addressing potential consequences such as upset stomach, nausea and increased emotional eating.’ #mukbang #jellybean #trishapaytas #trend #internet #food #ComfortSegredos
