@madebyjulianmedina: Just a little over 10 years ago I made my first hat. I recall thinking how terribly constructed it was but I was really excited by the potential. People always say “I had no idea I’d be doing this” - not me I’ve always known this was exactly what I’d be doing. I remember being In 1st grade while everyone was working with clay I asked Mrs. Brown if I could instead sew a pillow. I knew early on what I wanted to dedicate my life to. Not making hats but the use of fashion design as a medium for self expression. Since my first hat, I’ve designed just about everything else - from wallets to coats and really everything in between. I’m very excited by everything I produce but my 5panel hats will always be really special to me. Always being focused on my yearly collections I’m typically not left with a lot of time to experiment with different 5panel fabrics but today I decided I’d put everything aside and make myself a hat.
