RESCUE TEAMS IMPEDED BY BUREAUCRATIC BS‼️ The struggle is real. There’s been issues with attempted rescues being blocked by bureaucracy. FEMA, Red Cross (not knocking the boots on the ground, questioning the bureaucracy parts), and some government officials as described in the video are warning against utilizing self deployed rescue teams (whom others in government were cool with being involved) while they argue about pens and red tape; and people are dying. Yet apparently, news thinks those flying in on their own dime are pretty awesome, because they thought it was a national guard rescue when it was this team shown below, and the government took credit for it. 🤦🏽‍♀️. Below is Jonathan Howard’s testimony about how red tape and bureaucracy would’ve allowed an infant and an elderly person running out of oxygen to die after surviving the flash flooding if his team hadn’t stepped in. Many out there doing this are doing it with our own money or donations of friends so we can do our parts. Self deployed Appalachians, Coastal Communities used to hurricanes, North Carolinians from all over and friends in other states used chainsaws and skid steers to clear paths for EMS and National Guard to get to where they needed. Businessmen from the coast and other areas returning the favor shown to them during Florence by Appalachia, retired veterans, bikers who are charitable, and family of those in paths of hurricanes were the first to drop supplies in needed areas. (I watched my Facebook timeline as many efforts developed and was involved in some calls organizing trucks, supplies, rescues, etc. as some were putting certain things together) Not government or their “approved organizations”. Nurses, EMTs, and other Appalachian locals on horseback have been making rescues and dropping supplies. So has an Appalachian local with a team of mules. A woman named Logan from the coast came out to rescue and relocate livestock. She’s a personal friend who rescues mustangs and is highly qualified. The Cajun Navy have been absolute rock stars (as have others like the 118 ASOS guys helping coordinate aircraft), and they were scrutinized during Katrina for being “unapproved”. Yet it was them and Samaritans purse setting up the first oxygen stations and the CN relocating those in need as well as making some of the very first rescues! Along with those teams of veterans and medical professionals who have linked up to help our neighbors, friends, and family. A local opened up his starlink when Asheville 911 comms failed. Starlink equipment was distributed via “unapproved organization” helicopter drops, via horses, ATVs, etc. by locals, veterans, volunteer healthcare professionals, and more so communities could have access to 911 services prior to T-Mobile sending wifi vans and mass opening of roaming to all towers by carriers, and many cell towers are still down regardless. A bunch of good hearted people decided Appalachia was not going to be like the aftermath of Hawaii or Katrina if they could help prevent it. Now government is blocking and taking credit for efforts at the same time. There’s time for bureaucracy and politics and there’s time for action. If the governor had brought in national guard and established rescue teams in coordination with military including coast guard prior to this happening, there wouldn’t have been such a need for these types of rescues. Neither Appalachians or those in Coastal areas used to hurricanes are big on letting the innocent die when that can be avoided with effort and kindness in such times. Wish government thought and responded the same. Guess we gotta show em how. 🤷🏽‍♀️ #AppalachianStrong #appalachianmountains #Helene #Appalachia #CrisisResponse #Rescue #RescueDog #CajunNavy #118ASOS #JonathanHoward #AppalachianCoastalRescueAlliance #Asheville #ashevillenc #blackmountain #swannanoa #Robbinsville #Unicoi #Erwin #Burnsville #Bakersville #LakeLure #ChimneyRock #Newport #Cosby #fypシ゚viralシ #WesternNC #communitysupport #firstresponders
