@equestriankasia: When I give my horse the choice to make choices, they can feel herd and that they have a say in what happens to them. It gives them a sense of control about their safety, which calms them. When I do this, I observe. Like with Bruno in this clip, I allow him to decide, I allow him to lead. I am there for support and to help if he becomes emotionally disregulated because he spikes over fear threshold. Luckily, that didn’t happen. I can learn so much about the way he thinks and feels by observing. I get to know him in this way and will have a better understanding of how he could potentially act in future situations. However, this exercises isn’t a huge trust builder.
