Spray the back with rubberized undercoating and use fiberglass Bondo for the first layer then put regular bondo for the rest

Fiber Glass!!!!!!! 10x stronger. Never use straight bondo over welds or grinds. Fiberglass then bondo

Why not just mark the scrap while you had it up there then cut it to the shape of your gap and stitch weld it, that body fill is gunna last 3 days

Put the scrap metal behind the hold trace out the hole shape and cut it out making a perfect shape for the hole🤷♀️
