I f’ing hate those. If the pipe isn’t fastened behind the wall it just pushes into the wall making it impossible to get tight to the wall

I remember a leak behind tub, looked everywhere and finally found it. The screw eventually made a hole in the pipe.

over here there's a brass plate that goes around the copper and 3 grub screws that hold it tight

I agree. Once i had to remove the valve plate pull the spout arm put on the spout and shove a pipe between the wall and arm
