I have this lens and I can get the same shot with a 24, 35, and 85mm...I just have to move up closer. So, it's not necessary to own this lens.

Yeah, you need 70-200 f2.8 just to shoot at f14 because you want to have second car also in focus. Correct phrase: why you need ANY telephoto lens.
