How long should it take to start seeing results from your skincare? Cleansers should work instantly from a cleaning stand point. If you are using a treatment cleanser such as a benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid cleanser expect a few weeks before seeing any changes. Toners also work pretty instantly if they are aiming at hydrating, pH balancing, or reducing excess oil. If you toner has antioxidants those also start working immediately at fighting free radicals. If you toner has BHAs, AHAs, or PHAs, results will take longer to see. Read on for info on exfoliants. I would classify those types of toners as a leave on chemical exfoliant. Hydrating serums can give quick results as they hydrate the stratum corners. Hopefully you are also getting long term results too as the serum hydrates the lower layers of the skin. Physical exfoliants work instantly to remove layers of dead skin. Enzymes work very similarly, but need repeated use for best results. Chemical exfoliants take longer to show effect. It takes a few weeks to break down enough bonds holding dead skin cells to the surface and for the dead skin cells to sluff off. At two weeks you should start seeing results, but it takes around 12 weeks for full effect. Your hero products, vitamin C and retinol get to work relatively quickly, but take months to show how hard they’ve been working on your skin. Give those at least 12 weeks before judging them. You can’t see collagen stimulation and cell turnover, but hopefully you will start to notice a tightening/smoother appearance to your skin and a more even complexion. All in all, skincare takes time to work. While most products get to work quickly their effects of the skin take time to show. So give your products it’s time. Skincare is a marathon, not a sprint. #stlouisesthetician #stlesthi #skinstagram #skinfo #estheticiancreator #skineducation #skintips #myskincareisntworking #esthibestie #stlouisskincare #skinstlouis
