@nicolescrookedsmile: On 9/2/22 I went in for a third surgery. It would last 14 hours in order to remove the cancer in my cheek and reconstruct my face. My right leg was cut from knee to hip, the plastic surgeon took arteries, nerves, and meat from my thigh and placed them in my face. I woke up in the ICU and spent 6 days in the hospital. For the first time I was optimistic about my cancer being gone. It gave me strength to get up and do PT even though it hurt like hell. I was determined to move through this—my wedding was 10/31/22! I had important things to do! The wedding went off without a hitch and I married the man of my dreams. Sadly, soon after the wedding my first scan showed a suspicious area and the doctors believed it was a 4th recurrence. So right now I’m in immunotherapy and I seemed to be responding to it. But my recent PET scan showed some suspicious areas. And while I feel defeated once again as I fight this fight, I’ll be damned if I’m going to give up. It’s just not an option.
