@edacyu: last week, we celebrated my mom’s 69th birthday—and i’ve been struggling to find the right words to describe how ive been feeling. growing up as the daughter of two asian immigrant parents, i didn’t always express my love for my mom in ways i was proud of. and as my mom’s gotten older, i’ve struggled with finding reconciliation for the guilt that still fills me when i think of those memories. i finally wrote this poem over the weekend in an effort to pay homage to that journey—and all the love, hardship, and growth we’ve shared in between. i hope this piece reminds you to cherish your mother today (and everyday) and, as always, thank you for reading 💐 #poetrytok #asianamerican #immigrantparents #motherdaughterlove #guilt #growingup #sgv #workingmoms #capitalism
