@zenergy_guy: These 2 Nio statues (wrathful temple guardians) were carved by Unkei and Kailey in 1203. They live at the front gate of Todaiji, the great temple in Nara, Japan. It’s absolutely incredible how someone could have carved these! Their fierceness is said to protect the grounds from any negative/evil energy or spirits. #todaiji #japantemples #nio
