I also make it a point if someone comes in with a carer that I talk to them not the carer. Nothing worse than pretending they are not there.

I hated the patronizing praise. But what I hated more was some of my blind friends learning to expect such false praise and not realizing its harm.

I think we mean it as well intended but tone is definitely everything and we don't realize how patronizing it actually is.
