as their android tablet you should be able to set up separate users which have no access to play store, I have done this for my little one

My daughter taught me herself to read in an iPad. She needed to read for Roblox so she was motivated. Put a passcode and they learn numbers quick 😂

Amazon fire tablet is the best for your children ages. 3-7 years one. You can control the whole thing and switch the account to their account.
