Italian Easter Sweet Bread ✨ 1 cup of milk 1/2 cup of butter (unsalted) 1/2 cup of sugar + 1 tbsp 2 1/4 tsp of active dry yeast 3 large eggs (room temperature)+ 1 egg for egg wash 2 tsp of vanilla extract 4 3/4 cups of all purpose flour Sprinkles for garnish In a small saucepan, on low heat, add milk and butter. Stir until the butter melts and combines with the milk. Once it reaches a temperature of 110-115 F remove from heat. Add 1 tbsp of sugar and yeast to the mixture. Whisk to combine and let sit for 5-10 minutes. In the meantime, blend together eggs, vanilla extract, and sugar for 1-2 minutes. Pour in milk mixture and 1/2 of the flour. Blend until combines and add remaining flour. Blend. At this point it will be difficult to blend; coat your clean hands with flour and work the dough into a ball shape. Cover and let rise for 1 hour. Transfer dough ball to a floured surface and divide into 12 even sections. (Cut in half, cut in quarters, and cut each quarter into three). Roll out each section into a 10-12 inch rope. Take two ropes, pinch one of the ends and cross them over each other. Pinch together the other end, and connect the two ends to create a circular shape. Repeat this to create 6 rounds. Transfer to a lined baking tray. (3-4 per tray) Whisk together egg with 1 tbsp of water. Brush the top of each round with the egg wash and top with sprinkles. Place the dyed egg in the middle. Bake at 350 F for 20-25 minutes. Enjoy 😊 Useful Tips: - this bread is not very sweet, if you prefer sweeter feel free to add more sugar to your liking. - if when working the dough, you find it is too wet, add 1 tbsp of flour at a time until it becomes manageable. It should be slightly sticky but not wet. FYP, Easter, Italian, Italian recipe, recipe
