@whealth_: The sacroiliac joint is a massive joint on either side of the sacrum that connects the sacrum to the ilium. It is COVERED in super tough ligaments that keep it very still. This is an incredibly immobile joint, even for the "hypermobile." It only moves a couple of degrees relative to our other joints that move 90+ degrees all over our body. The SI joint can get "flared up" for a variety of reasons. Maybe it is surrounding muscles, maybe it is actually a facet joint from the L5/S1 vertebrae, or maybe it is the SIJ itself that is inflamed and pissed off. Either way, doing gentle movements, calming yourself down, and eventually strengthening are very important things to do! This series provides gentle movement for those of you that are REALLY flared up. Oftentimes, SIJ pain can be described as "sharp" or "stabbing" and occur with positional changes. However, it is important to note that the words used to describe this pain are just that - words. This joint is so incredibly solid that even if you feel pain, your body is okay! Your back is okay! Sometimes, pain can be incredibly misleading. SIJ pain sucks, we have all experienced it at Whealth for prolonged periods, but it is often NOT something to be afraid of at all. (Most chronic, persistent, or repetitious pains aren't!) #sijoint #mobilitytraining #exercisetips
