@charlottemorabito: The truth about #glowups that we don’t acknowledge ⬇️ ⠀ And that’s how damn expensive they can be! So many of the people talking about their glowups don’t discuss how much money they have invested in themselves to change their appearance — and hey! I’m not bashing them. I did the same thing. ⠀ Here’s a breakdown of some of my spending: ✨Teeth makeover - at least $2000 for professional whitening (bc I wanted to preserve my enamel), straightening and getting a cap on my front tooth. I now get 3-4 professional cleanings a year to maintain them, 1-2 of which I have to cover out of pocket bc dental insurance caps them at 2 per year ✨permanent hair removal (electrolysis) - around $20,000 over 3.5 years. This was one of those things I put off for YEARS because of the cost. But I finally got sick of the painful razor burn and what shaving was doing for my skin, so I budgeted $400-$500 a month for it and made it happen. It has done wonders for my skin and my self confidence in my appearance ✨Food - I didn’t mention this in the video, but I did lose weight. (It started off as a byproduct of eating more consistently and then I admittedly became intentional — which is a source of personal conflict for me, but that’s for a different caption). One of the ways I lost weight was by paying for prepared meals to be delivered to me, which cost around $115 a week! And then I spent another $25-$50 on groceries a week on top of that. It allowed me to be more consistent. ✨A new wardrobe - Around $800. I honestly wish I bought fewer but higher quality clothes (or even spent a little more money) bc I’ve had to throw out a lot of it. (I was afraid of gaining or losing more weight and that prevented me from properly investing) That’s still a project. ✨Makeup - Maybe around $200 every quarter. I never used to splurge on makeup or skin care, but now it’s a line item in my budget and that stuff adds up!!!! ⠀ I don’t say all of this to brag about how much money I had to spend. I’m saying this to be transparent that sometimes these glow up results are easier to obtain for some people BECAUSE they have money to spend.
