I can’t put aside $50 aside a week let alone save 6 months worth of a wage. 😳😅

If I have money for 6 months for an “emergency” fund? It would also be called my “down payment for a house” fund. I’ll be 30 next year and this is not realistic. 🙃Especially if you’re single.

6-12 months would take us a few years. 3-6k is much more manageable

Why do people in the west save so little? 12 months is nothing. Save when you are young and save up at least 10 years of your income to buffer you throughout life.

I think this is a good long-term goal, but short term just try to save enough that if you have an emergency (medical, car) it’s not putting you into credit card debt to pay it off.

What do you do with the credit card payments. But you have the savings and don’t want to use it to pay them because then you will not have the savings

if you have a lot of responsibility like kids etc you have to save more BC kids will financially drain you

Some are thriving and are able to do this, some are barely surviving. So take what applies to you and if it doesn’t then listen to somebody else.

So true and necessary. Turns a catastrophe into an inconvenience. Started at $1K and now up more than that.

Yep, that’s what I’m building towards…trying to get to 80-100k in a brokerage account. 70k stocks, 30k cash. Halfway there. 🤣
