Amelia made a vow to avenge her sister, no matter the cost. She plays her cards carefully, positioning Hunter exactly where she wants him—with help from her cousin Zitha. These two gather enough intel on Hunter that by the time Amelia meets him, she’s prepared for anything. Maybe I’ve grown too attached to Hunter, but it felt like Amelia and Zitha were crucifying him for things he didn’t fully do. But let me tell you, the one thing I absolutely loved about this book is the strong female lead. Amelia is a woman on a mission. It didn’t matter how good Hunter’s stroke game was, she stayed laser-focused on her goal. And in the end, she brought him to his knees. There were moments when I worried she’d fall for him and forget her mission—but no matter how close she got, her need to avenge her sister was always at the forefront, making Hunter’s advances futile.
