@theprehabguys: While we often think of a plank as a core based exercise, the latest research is showing they play a part in shoulder strength as well👇🏻 A recent study published in The Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research examined just how much shoulder muscle activity we see with several plank variations. Their findings? Quite a bit! Researchers used surface EMG to measure the activity of muscles such as the upper trap, serratus anterior, triceps brachii, infraspinatus, and lower trap finding that a multitude of plank variations have a significant amount of shoulder muscle activation, the exercise above having healthy recruitment of the upper trap muscle. Add some plank variations into your shoulder routine to increase that shoulder girdle muscle activation and feel strong and confident in your shoulders.💪
