His Base is 50k if it’s 100% OTE at 100k (50k commission if he hits targets). Kudos if he’s gonna make 140k

He's right about persistence, but you also need hard work, Luck, and ok with high pressure from MGMT as IT sales can be brutal.

Sales is not for the faint hearted. Pays well. Management upwards get a base from 55k upwards. I highly doubt he’s making 70k with just 2 yrs expr
