@emmawoodhousecoaching: I've asked myself this same question... "Why am I freaking out right now?!"😡 Sometimes we don't know why we get so nervous at races. That makes it really tough to try and fix when we don't understand what is working us up. There could be a few reasons why... ➡️ You're only thinking about the results When you're so focused on scoring points or finishing in a particular place, you take away your focus on what you're doing. If you find that your brain goes into default mode and you keep making the same mistakes, this could be why. ➡️ You're nervous about repeating mistakes you’ve made at previous races You're so focused on not making the same mistakes that you end up making the same mistakes. This is because you are focusing on what you don't want versus focusing on what you do want. Instead, focus on what helps you to not repeat those mistakes aka your technique. ➡️ You don't trust yourself to finish the course If you're scared to go down the course, you are going to ski scared. It's crucial to trust and believe in yourself and your equipment that you will make it down fast and in control. If you don't trust yourself, then it will be hard to ski how you want to ski.
