do interior storms (I made my own) to make them double pane. we did that so we could keep our old single pane beauties, and it's a HUGE energy saver.

I have an 1875... with aluminum storms on the outside and indoor storms on the inside. Expensive, but warmer than the walls.

I lived in a 1760s farmhouse. Also a sucker for those windows. There’s a co in MA that restores windows. Glazing is SO tedious.
