Menteri Keuangan Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa memberikan sinyal kuat bahwa implementasi pemungutan pajak bagi pedagang di platform marketplace akan mulai diberlakukan pada 1 Juli 2026. Purbaya mengatakan pemerintah masih melakukan koordinasi dan pengecekan akhir bersama Direktorat Jenderal Pajak (DJP) sebelum menetapkan pelaksanaan kebijakan tersebut. Menurutnya, aturan administrasi telah siap dan hanya menunggu instruksi resmi dari Menteri Keuangan. Menkeu menegaskan kebijakan ini bukan merupakan pajak baru bagi pelaku UMKM digital.
