did this exact repair on our Hotpoint tumble drier about 10 years ago! clearly a known common failure. you would think they would redesign it.

I had to replace a belt last week- the entire machine needed taking apart… I see why they end up in landfill

Note that once the shaft has eaten through the soft brass it will be scratched and will eat through the replacement within a matter of months.

The lint in the bottom worries me. The vacuum doesn’t reach. It’s is it easy to remove the case to vacuum?

It’s nice that you fixed it, and I feel the same about Throwaway society used to work in the scrapyard, and it’s apprising wheel gets thrown away

I must not be the only person that thinks while I'm this far into the disassemble and the rubber belt runs around a hot drum I would of replaced that

a very common fault on these. first thing to check when its squealing. 2mins to change from the rear, certainly no need for the stripdown shown here.
