my chef got seriously sick because he continued work instead of rest. his nurse (now wife) and he get furious if you don't declare sick, even during holidays to get those days back as holidays.

That approach is also in here(Czechia). We do have medicine but mostly we just sniff the water vapors, drink tea n water, have porridge and sleep it off
