Honestly it’s the only way for some. I was diagnosed at 45 but only bc I did the work. Misdiagnosed, mismedicated for all that time by MANY profession

I literally know I have adhd and autism it can’t get a proper diagnosis bc I’m literally too poor the cheapest one is $650 where I live and I live alone and pay $695 for rent plus 145 for phone plus

All my siblings were diagnosed but I wasn’t I have been self diagnosed for years because of a fear of going to the Drs, I’m now diagnosed but if I hadn’t self diagnosed 1/2

I got diagnosed last year with a BPD and every time I mention it people will be like omg me too I'm like so obsessive. Stop. Or when they find out I'm studying nursing they say u can't have BPD (1)

while I recognize that diagnosis can be a privilege, I do agree with this take - many conditions have overlapping traits with ASD. Suspecting you’re autistic and asking for accommodations accordingly-

But what if people can’t afford to get the diagnosis that they need? That’s why people who self diagnosed do extensive research to make sure they have that disability or autism with extensive research
