‘After I landed my first sword on Jonahs boat I set myself the goal to catch a swordfish from my Seadoo Fish Pro. In my mind this was the ultimate challenge: fishing 30-50km offshore, dropping a bait 500 meters+ deep and battling a gladiator for hours would be the most extreme and rewarding experience. Three days ago my dream came true.. After a few drops I managed to set the hook and it became a grueling two hour+ fight. I have never been put to the test in this way and I couldn’t be more happy when I gaffed and tail roped a big sword. @jonahyick , @tomws1985 and @cainwiki helped me transport the sword back to the boat ramp and with assistance of @samnicholsfishing and Stu we weighed it at the @tunacluboftasmania . It came in at 132kg and was 3.60m long from tip of the bill to tail. We finished processing the fish around 1.30am, long day! We shared the fish with friends and family. Its important to note that these missions require a lot of fishing time to succeed and I can’t afford to not be able to fish because of mechanical issues. Therefore your ski has to be in very good shape. Even more important is safety. When fishing offshore and quite often solo your gear and ski should be in top condition. A special thanks to Reg and the team from @maynesmarine who often goes the extra mile to maintain my ski in top condition. Another big thank you to the @blackmagictackle team who have been supporting me for the last 2.5 years with their reliable gear and promoting my catches. 24kg @bkcustomrods rod delivered again! Thanks for the last minute tweak to my top guide days before the catch. At last but not at least, a special thanks to Jonah who taught me the ins and outs of sword fishing, and for bringing back the sword, weighing and taking amazing footage. Full story will be posted on my Facebook page’ - @jetski_fishing_tasmania Aclassic!!! #fishing #fish #fishinglife #bluewater #nature #fishingislife #angler #fisherman #fishingtrip #tuna #fishingaddict #bigfish #saltwaterfishing #fishingdaily #fishon #sea #aclassic #diehard #diehardfisho #jetski #jetskifishing
